Sports, Castles, Elections, and the Ugliest Mitten

Oh, October, you were so lovely! We got super lucky and had some beautiful jacket-weather days. It made for some nice walks, good bike rides, and easy ventures out into the world. For example, we have been setting aside time at least once a week to go look at houses from our "saved" list. We keep looking for the perfect house in the perfect location. We've found those two things separately, but it's challenging to find both in the same property, unfortunately. Well, at least in our price range. It is fun to go explore all the different kinds of Danish homes, though. I like watching the kids run around and imagine which room would be their own, what we could do in the garden, and how they would spend their days. More on the Language

I don't know if anyone is still interested in our Danish language journey, but I try to keep track of some of the interesting things we learn as we continue studying, and when I think I have enough things saved up, I throw them in a post. :) * * * First, we've learned that Danes don’t capitalize some of the proper nouns (e.g. days of the week, months, nationalities, languages). In English, we would write: "I will speak D anish in O ctober." In Danish, we write: " Jeg skal tale d ansk  i o ktober ."  I think it's kind of tough to figure out what to capitalize and what not to capitalize, but I'm sure I had that problem in second grade or something, too, so we'll figure it out. * * * We've also learned that there are plenty of words that are similar to their English counterparts (and some that are directly from the English word).
