The Barbers Move to Denmark

As I mentioned in my "Catching up" post, Zac and I have started Danish lessons! Since I've been around Danes off and on for more than a decade, I do understand that the Danish language contains sounds that the English language just doesn't have (some weird guttural "r"), and I also am aware of their extra vowels. Æ  Å  Ø That doesn't mean I know anything about actually using those vowels or making those sounds. Although, Zac's colleagues showed him a satire video that suggests Danes don't actually know how to speak their language, either. It's been a while since my final weekly post, so I thought it would be a good time to catch up with you all on what's been happening in the last month or so! All the puzzles!! Zac and I are loving our new Danish lives. We even started our Danish lessons! On Wednesday evenings from 18:15 to 20:45, we sit in a classroom in Hellerup (about 20 minutes away from our home) and practice counting, talking about where we come from, and figuring out how to say words "properly" versus "normally." On Sunday nights, we have online work to complete as well. The class is half in-person and half online, so it works a little better with the family life than doing it twice a week in a classroom. Not surprisingly, people have had a lot of questions for us about the move. Zac and I listed the top 10 here (roughly in backwards order, with answers): 10.  What's the weather like there? ( Also: Does it get very cold there? Does it snow there?) The weather where we will be living is very similar to what we experience here in north Idaho. There are four seasons, and Spring and Fall are less hot (more temperate) than we usually experience. It does snow. I have visited a couple times when it was very cold, once when it was very hot, and a few times when it was perfectly moderate. Me and Ann on a boat tour of the harbor, woefully underdressed for February. All the little Danish kiddos have these great suits to keep them warm in the winter. 9.  Are you going to buy cars when you get over there? We're not. At least not right away.
