HARRISONS INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL FOOTBALL TOURNEMENT people in team: 6 venue: big gym in the school. First, I started doing warm ups. For the warm ups we got in a circle and passed the ball around to each other. Next, we started our first match. I was a defender and we won the first one. Then, we watched a match and it was very fun. After that, we played again and I was a defender, and this is basically what we did until our 3rd match. In our 3rd match, I was goalkeeper for the 1st time! It started pretty hard but then I did a lot of practice and I got way better. You also have to wear goalkeeper gloves to be a goalkeeper, and to get better grip on the ball because the goalkeeper is the only one that can touch the ball with their hands. After our 3rd match we ate a little snack and we also played around. Soon after, we discussed what teams will play in the finals! When the end whistle was blown on the fourth match, it was a tie between NIS which is my school and CIS. We had to do a p...

It's Fall in Denmark!

It's definitely autumn now! (That's efterår in Danish.) Gone are the days of endless Danish sunshine, but contrary to what you may have heard, Danish autumn can be quite nice. The temperature hasn't dropped to the bone-chilling levels of winter, the sun still shines sometimes, and when it does rain, it feels cool and refreshing. As you can see, I had to increase my biking accessories to make sure my face and hands don't get frozen in the morning, but overall, we're having a very pleasant fall. Speaking of bicycling, I have cycled to and from work 74 times this year! I set a goal of 100 days, but between my work-from-home days, sick-kid days, and holidays, it's gonna be a real (weather-dependent) stretch to make it there. I figure I'll be satisfied with anything over 75. It's still a big accomplishment for me. In order to help realize this dream though, I needed some more waterproof gear. I have a nice rain jacket and rain pants, but I didn't have a...

Back to Living the Danish Life!

Image
OK, back to Danish life! We had a nice visit to the U.S., but we still have lots of good Danish living to cover. Birthdays My birthday happened while I was in the U.S., but we celebrated with some delicious BLTs and ice cream at home before I left. And for those of you who think a BLT doesn't sound like a very exciting birthday dinner, I feel sad, because it's clear to me that Zac has never made you a sandwich before. That guy is GOOD. My colleagues sure didn't forget my birthday, either. I returned from the U.S. to find my desk decorated in traditional Danish birthday fashion. Zac got me really some really cool earrings from Lövendahl that I had eyed when we visited their booth at Copenhell. Kaden also turned 15 the other day! You guys! My baby boy is 15 years old! His birthday was in the middle of the week, which sucked because it was also the day that Zac and I had to take our Danish test. I sang him the first verse of one of the Danish birthday songs when he woke up, an...
