Harrison's Trip to Louisiana

Image
Harrison's class took a trip to Louisiana! (Not the state, the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art.) It's a fantastic museum with lots of opportunities for children to interact and run around and even make their own art! When they first arrived, a tour guide showed the class around the main museum and the Children's Museum, a space where Harrison was delighted to find an entire LEGO wall for building LEGO on. Unfortunately, that was not part of the plan for the day, so Harrison has requested that we return to Louisiana to make use of the wall another day. There was no time to build LEGO on the class trip because they had a workshop on a f amous Danish artist, Asger Jørn. First,  they looked at some of Asger's paintings... ...then the guide showed them a room where they would be painting their own pictures in the style of Asger Jørn! Harrison's Blog: Skovskolen (Forest School)

Today my class went on a trip to Skovskolen ! Skovskolen is a forest school.  First, when we got there we got divided into different groups. The people in my group were Hamza, me, and Rassmus (Rassy). We started off in a camp ground. The campsite was next to a small forest. The grown-ups who are learning how to forage explained to us what type of plants we need to find when we are doing our foraging. After, we searched for nettle, stinging nettle, sour plant, clovers, Birch bark and lots more. Then we used the things we found to make some, birch tea out of birch leaves. We made vegetarian frikadeller  out of nettle and oats and egg, pesto out of pine nuts, basil, lemons and oil. Pasta to go with the pesto. Then we made SNOBRØD . snobrød is pretty much some dough wrapped on a stick roasted in a fire. We put the snobrød on sticks we sharpened with knives. This is us making lunch. I did not like the birch tea. I kind of liked the frikadeller . I also liked the pasta. The pesto...

Danish Springtime!

Happy June! May was fantastic and we can't get enough of this awesome, totally perfect weather. We even got a great thunderstorm. We're trying hard not to let the beautiful days go to waste. Even the misty, rainy ones are amazing! * * * Of course, some evenings, we don't really have the option to sit outside and enjoy the last hours of the day. Danish classes are twice a week and we have to be inside for those instead of relaxing on the terrace, but our classes are going great. We are learning a lot and it's a really wonderful group. We were learning about how to describe recipes and cooking terms, so our instructor thought it would be fun if we all made something from our home country and then told the class how we made it. It was a hard assignment mid-week, so I decided to try making Rice Krispie Treats for the first time in Denmark. They have Rice Krispies, butter, and marshmallows, but as I've mentioned before, the marshmallows are definitely different here, so ...
