Harrison's Blog: Skovskolen (Forest School)
Today my class went on a trip to Skovskolen!
Skovskolen is a forest school.
First, when we got there we got divided into different groups. The people in my group were Hamza, me, and Rassmus (Rassy). We started off in a camp ground. The campsite was next to a small forest.
The grown-ups who are learning how to forage explained to us what type of plants we need to find when we are doing our foraging.
After, we searched for nettle, stinging nettle, sour plant, clovers, Birch bark and lots more. Then we used the things we found to make some, birch tea out of birch leaves. We made vegetarian frikadeller out of nettle and oats and egg, pesto out of pine nuts, basil, lemons and oil. Pasta to go with the pesto. Then we made SNOBRØD. snobrød is pretty much some dough wrapped on a stick roasted in a fire. We put the snobrød on sticks we sharpened with knives.
This is us making lunch.
I did not like the birch tea. I kind of liked the frikadeller. I also liked the pasta. The pesto I didn't really like because Niko supposedly added too much lemon to it.
Then I GOT STUNG BY THE STINGING NETTLE. It hurt a lot.
We went on a hunt to find different kinds of leaves. I made a fire with flint and steel. There were two different levels. The first level was with tinder, the second level was with birch bark, which I got like a tiny fire lit twice. No one else did it, though.
I also built a shelter out of a tarp and moss and rope and sticks that were sharp that we could stick in the ground, and to build it, we started by finding two trees that were aligned with each other, and we tied the tarp around those two trees, and then we made floor out of another piece of tarp, and to support the top one, we tied a knot without tying a knot! I don't know how. We just watched. On the top tarp on the kind of corners, we put moss balls in to support it from flying away, because we were pretending there was a giant storm coming and we needed a shelter to live in!
After all of our activities, me and my friends built a tepee in the small forest next to the campsite.
We used our sharpened sticks to roast marshmallows at the end with the parents all here.
It was really fun, but not fun, but mostly fun, like it was a 50/50 day.
obviously a tiring dayl HAHAHA
